Duties:

An incumbent is employed as the Maintenance Mechanic — Generator to carry out skilled maintenance and repair work on prime and stand-by emergency generators for the New Embassy Compound (NEC) and residential owned/leased properties. A job holder responds to scheduled, unscheduled and preventive maintenance work orders generated by the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). An incumbent reports to the Supervisory Building Engineer.

Experience:

AВ minimum ofВ three (3) years&# 039; experience inВ the operation, maintenance, and repair ofВ prime orВ standby power generators for large commercial properties such asВ high-rise office buildings, aВ hospital orВ college campus, orВ for the local utility company isВ required. One year ofВ which should beВ inВ the operations, maintenance, and repair ofВ  1000 KVA orВ larger generators.

Education:

Completion ofВ secondary school isВ required. Completion ofВ training program from anВ accredited institute recognized asВ producing power generation diesel engine mechanics isВ required.

Language:

Limited knowledge ofВ English (speaking/reading/writing) isВ required.

Good working knowledge ofВ Ukrainian (speaking/reading/writing) isВ required.

Job Knowledge:В Knowledge ofВ the internal working ofВ aВ combustion engine, torque values atВ various RPMs, and methods and standards for routine maintenance onВ combustion engines isВ required. Must have aВ very good technical understanding onВ how diesel engines are sized for generators inВ order toВ obtain optimum performance from both pieces ofВ the packaged unit. Must know how toВ adjust valves, change filters and belts, adjust speed toВ achieve hertz levels (50 orВ  60 Hz), and make minor repairs. Must know how toВ research information onВ the internet inВ order toВ get upВ toВ date information from the generator manufacturer. Knowledge ofВ fire and life safety codes and standards isВ required.

Skills And Abilities:В Must have the skills and abilities inВ the following areas: diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, large packaged generator and alternator units; testing electrical components and taking equipment readings with various meters, hand, power, and specialty tools toВ determine appropriate repairs, lifting and carrying tools, equipment, orВ parts, maximum weight 25 kilos. Additional skills include installation ofВ emergency standby generator systems; installation ofВ plumbing lines required for the transmission and distribution ofВ diesel fuel; distinguishing frequencies and sounds, color codes and odors inВ the operation ofВ equipment inВ order toВ troubleshoot for repairs. Additional abilities include responding toВ emergency situations inВ anВ efficient and timely manner toВ effect immediate repairs; work inВ various adverse conditions such asВ tight orВ enclosed spaces, onВ ladders atВ various heights, and inВ temperature extremes, indoors orВ outdoors toВ complete work assignments; communicate orally and inВ writing with co-workers, contractors and vendors toВ obtain and provide pertinent information. Must have good computer skills, and able toВ write e-mails and research information onВ the Internet. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and beВ able toВ handle aВ large workload and multiple tasks. Must beВ organized, with aВ keen aptitude toВ work independently, impeccable integrity, strong initiative, good judgment, and the ability toВ maintain confidentiality.

Driving requirement: Should have aВ valid driving license (category B) toВ operate official Embassy vehicle*

*Should beВ able toВ pass onВ the road driving test.
